This is a "pool" posting for multiple vacancies in the 2024-25 school year. When a vacancy is open to external applicants, this pool allows hiring administrators immediate access to potential candidates. Qualified applicants will be selected for interview by hiring administrators as needed throughout the spring and summer.

 

JOB SUMMARY

This position serves under the general direction of the building principal, assisting in the development and evaluation of the instructional program. Responsibilities include providing leadership aligned and committed to the District’s 5-year Strategic Plan for the continual improvement of educational programs for all students; a commitment to equity and building a diverse school community; evaluating assigned staff; enforcing necessary school rules and regulations; supervising and disciplining students; planning, scheduling, and staffing assignments; evaluating and directing student activities programs; and other duties as directed. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the elementary school building principal.

  1. Communicates with parents, staff, and community concerning the school programs, system rules, and procedures, including student management issues and discipline.
  2. Nurtures a positive school environment that celebrates, respects, and values diversity, where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures.
  3. Provides oversight for the required state assessments.
  4. Designs and implements structures for effective and efficient operations including school safety, classroom and school-wide behavior management, and other issues to improve student learning opportunities.
  5. Facilitates problem solving when conflicts arise between parents and school staff.
  6. Supervises events and oversees student activities.
  7. Directs, supervises, and evaluates assigned personnel.
  8. Assists in implementing curriculum, program, and professional development.
  9. Assists in the analysis of research and assessment data and the application of state standards to improve student achievement.
  10. Works collaboratively with principal and staff to implement Strategic Plan goals
  11. Attends meetings and serves as a facilitator and/or advisor.
  12. Supervises the operation and care of the building, grounds, and other school property.
  13. Maintains accurate school records and reports as required. Prepares a variety of reports and correspondence.
  14. Assumes other responsibilities as directed by the building principal.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the building principal.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS                                                                                                  

Works in a school environment; frequent interruptions; visual and mental concentration on details and precision is required; may be required to deal with distraught or angry people.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree and valid Washington State principal and teacher certificates. A minimum of three years transferable experience as a successful elementary classroom teacher.

Demonstrated successful leadership in a comparable position. Knowledge of standards for satisfactory professional performance and development for certificated staff. Skill in program development and evaluation, staff supervision and evaluation, fiscal management and staff development. Skill in planning and organizing. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and community in all aspects of school life. Skill in human relations, problem solving, and building a positive culture. Ability to effectively implement and sustain shared decision-making models. Ability to effectively use technology and support staff use of technology. Ability to apply innovative and responsible leadership skills in an elementary school environment. Ability to assist in planning and implementing support for struggling learners. Ability to model and lead staff in ensuring growth for every student through intentional efforts to eliminate outcome and opportunity gaps. Ability to assist with planning and implementing an integrated educational infrastructure to support special education and provide necessary interventions and support. Willingness to travel between schools. 

 

Salary2023-24 Northshore School Administrator (NASA) Salary Schedule. Placement on the salary schedule is determined by official documentation verifying educational level and work experience. Salary will be prorated for less than a full-year and/or part-time employees. FLSA: Exempt.
