Job Summary: Under the supervision of Field Supervisors, this position assists the Kitchen Manager to direct complete kitchen operations and assigned kitchen staff. The Secondary Assistant Manager (SAM) assists in preparing meals for all students and staff. The SAM orders, prepares, and serves nutritious food as required by participation in the National School Meal Program. The SAM is expected to work cooperatively with staff, students, custodians, and parents; prepares all entrées, soups, breads, salads, and desserts; follows standardized recipes and communicates recipe changes or concerns to supervisors; keeps accurate inventory of all goods ordered; keeps accurate records for government reimbursement and financial accountability; maintains a clean kitchen and sanitary working conditions; operates point of sale (POS) system and cash register as necessary and provides direction to staff on the operation of the POS system and cash register; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Salary: $22.42 -$27.30 per hour. Salary is based on the 2024-2025 Food Service Salary Schedule(subject to change) salary placement is based on experience and longevity and will be determined by Human Resources.
Work Year: 193 days per year, 6.50 hours per day
Responsible to: Food Service personnel are responsible to the Director of Food Service, Building Administrator, and the Food Service Field Supervisors.
Employment Qualifications: Food Handler’s Permit required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a kitchen environment; may have to stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis and requires occasional lifting and carrying of equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds.
